In her long and distinguished legal career, the Hon. Nanette M. Warner (Ret.) has advanced family justice in multiple professional domains. After earning her JD from Georgetown Law School, she joined the Tucson law firm of Miller & Pitt in 1976, focusing on complex civil litigation and appellate work. She was appointed to the Pima County Superior Court in 1986 by Governor Bruce Babbitt. Serving on the bench for almost 25 years, she held the positions of Presiding Judge for the Pima County Juvenile Court and the Pima County Family Law and Conciliation Court. She also served as Mental Health Court Judge. Judge Warner led key reforms in the fields of family and juvenile law, including the creation of the Pima County Juvenile Court Model Court and the first felony Mental Health Court in Arizona. She participated in the development of the first Arizona Child Support Guidelines and the first Arizona Rules of Family Law Procedure. In 2010, Judge Warner left the bench to devote herself to dispute resolution in family law and elder law. Of counsel with Karp & Weiss, she emphasizes mediation, arbitration, and parenting coordination. Judge Warner has an exceptional record of public service, including leadership on the boards of the Arizona State Hospital, the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona, and other community groups. She has received numerous awards for her contributions to law reform and community service, among them the first Terry Chandler Award for Excellence in Juvenile Law in 1998, the ABA Award for Judicial Excellence in 1999, recognition as the Tucson Metroplitan Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year in 2006, and the Arizona Judicial College COJET Excellence in Education Award in 2015.
